Varathan

Appearance

It starts with a rumbling down in the earth (Moon. Whatever). The ground cracks. An enormous bulk pushes aside the rocks, and a great saurian creature raises itself from the depths. The fins around its head fan out and contract, tasting the air. The great wings at its back stay folded, but its drill-like fingernails continue to spin, throwing off the dirt they gathered burrowing through the ground.

It has the classic pear shaped body most suited to the waddling gait of a kaiju.

It roars, high pitched and low pitched at the same time, a noise like somebody rubbing a leather glove on violin strings and then playing it backwards.
